Clothing and Accessories

Our clothing is sourced at shops and markets providing clothing for the domestic market in Pakistan and Afghanistan. Usually material is purchased and sewn at home and the range of cottons and other fabrics is extensive. Our aim is to grow the domestic production of woven cloth in northern Pakistan, and open it up to international markets to provide a sustainable future for the weavers and their families.
Many designs involve extensive embroidery, much of it hand-stitched. Each region has its own characteristics and favourite colour palate.
We are always on the lookout in local markets for interesting clothing, shawls, scarves and hats.

Clothing

Tradition and the Islamic faith in Pakistan advocate modesty. Our shalwar kameez are simple cotton tops and trouser sets which are modest, loose fitting and comfortable for warmer weather. Both men’s and women’s shalwar kameez are available; the women’s suit includes a matching dupatta (scarf).
We also have simple white kurta (cotton shirts), Kandahari shirts from Afghanistan (beloved of many Western travellers through Afghanistan in the 70s), embroidered dresses from Swat and Abbotabad, and light dresses suitable for beachwear.
See our textiles page for more information on vintage traditional dresses from Afghanistan and Pakistan and chapans from Uzbekistan.

Scarves

Our huge range of scarves and shawls are available year round, with small silky scarves suitable for summer and warm pashmina, jamawar and wool scarves for the colder months.
We also stock wool and silk scarves from Tradition Textile and Jewellery Pty Ltd (www.traditiontextilesandjewellery.com).
